What is Hop Into Reading?
Hop Into Reading is The Whispering Shelf’s free youth summer reading program designed to make reading fun. Kids are challenged to read a total of 700 minutes a summer to expand their imaginations, expose them to new ideas, and most importantly, have fun. This year, we’re excited to partner with Ujamaa Community Bookstore to expand our program’s reach.
How much does the program cost to participate?
This program is entirely free to participate.
Who can participate in this program?
Hop Into Reading is designed for kids 18 years old and younger.
How can I participate?
To participate, stop by The Whispering Shelf or Ujamaa Community Bookstore to pick up your free reading log. Participants can visit either store throughout the summer to track their reading progress, redeem mini prizes, and turn in their completed 700 minutes for the grand prize.
What can I win?
Every child who completes 700 minutes of reading will win a free small cheese pizza from HotBox Pizza, plus one of these prizes:
$15 gift card to The Whispering Shelf or Ujamaa Bookstore (limited supply)
